July 22, 2018
Urban Adventures

With incredible architecture, history, stunning city views and flavourful tapas, this stunning seaside city offers something for everyone. Our local Barcelona tour guides have gathered their picks for some of the best things to see and do while you’re visiting.

Take in the views at Búnquers del Carmel

At the top of the Turó de Rovira, in the neighbourhood of El Carmel, you’ll find this lookout with stunning views of the city. In a place that used to be an artillery post used during the civil war, you can now take a panoramic picture of Barcelona. Take along a drink or a small picnic to complete your experience and enjoy the moment. To get to Búnquers del Carmel by public transport, take the V17 busto Turó de la Roviram and from there it’s a seven-minute walk.

Ride the Montjuïc Cable Car

Floating over the port of Barcelona up to the hill of Montjuïc is a great experience. For roughly EUR 12, you’ll enjoy amazing views of the city on the Montjuïc Cable Car. You can also discover Montjuïc Castle, and beautiful lookouts — the best places are Mirador del’Alcalde, the Miramar Gardens and the Mossèn Costa i Llobera Gardens. At the park of Monjuïc, you’ll find Fundació Miró, the National Art Museum of Catalonia, Poble Espanyol and the Barcelona Ethnological Museum.

Have a moment at the Magic Fountain

This is an all-time classic — and every time it’s magic. Share a romantic moment or just delight yourself with a choreography that involves water, colour and music. The Magic Fountain is mesmerising and free. To get there, walk from Plaza de España towards the National Art Museum of Catalunya. For more information, check out their online schedule.

Enjoy tapas on Carrer de Blai

This is a very special street; Carrer de Blai is filled with terraces, tapas and pinchos (pintxos) places for as far as you can see, plus it offers a great atmosphere! A must-visit if you love tapas (and who doesn’t?). It’s an ideal setting to share food and socialise with friends.

Grab a cocktail in La Barceloneta

La Barceloneta used to be a neighbourhood of fishermen bordered on one side by the port, and on the other side the beach. Now it’s a very lively neighbourhood with lots of remarkable seafood restaurants, tapas bars and plenty of good places for drinks like Absenta, Zahara Cocktail Club or the Cafe de los Angelitos. Have a drink and relax on the beach, or take a stroll on Passeig de Sant Joan.
