Craving a snack in New Delhi? One of your best bets is bhelpuri, a tasty snack made with puffed rice, vegetables and tamarind sauce. Some of the best you’ll find in the city comes courtesy of an unassuming stall manned by Sonu. His older brother started the bare-bones business 45 years ago and, after years of working alongside his brother, Sonu has slowly perfected his technique (involving lightning-quick chopping, slicing and mixing). Now the family has four stalls from which they sell their addictive blend to both locals and visitors lucky enough to stumble upon one.
While business started off slowly, word eventually spread, bringing in more and more hungry patrons in search of a savoury snack. And now, after 45 years of hard work, they’ve got a steady stream of customers throughout the day. If you find yourself in Delhi, do your taste buds a favour and find them.
